Still Waiting, Still Fighting: Acro for the Olympics

The IOC’s announcement of a mixed artistic gymnastics team event for Los Angeles 2028 is a step forward—but not for Acro. Women and men will still perform individual routines and have their scores combined

In Acrobatic Gymnastics, partnerships—male/female as well as in our mixed pair event—are the essence of the discipline. We don’t just add scores; we create together. It’s stunningly beautiful, and it always steals the show.

To hear this news felt like a slap in the face. Yes, more gymnastics on the Olympic stage is great—but after team events, all-around, event finals…and now this? It’s unfair and disappointing.
